Budget 2026: Sarawak gets RM6 billion+

The big news this week is, of course, the 2026 national budget. Sarawak gets a clean RM6 billion allocation, up slightly from last year’s RM5.9 billion. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’d have seen the many breakdowns, highlights, and analyses floating around. This week’s infographic points out the top five items most relevant to Sarawak.
The other headline story is the FAM scandal involving seven so-called “Malaysian heritage” footballers. FIFA handed down harsh penalties, and the fallout has been messy. I’m no football fan, but this week’s A String of Thought reflects on how this embarrassing saga raises deeper questions about identity and belonging — well beyond football itself.
