Kuching: Age-Friendly City

The piece of news worthy of headline space this week is that Kuching is actively trying to age gracefully. Aren’t we all? All that hard work has to land somewhere nice, surely. A city that can accommodate the aged can also accommodate the young, but not necessarily vice versa.
The Global Talent Competitiveness Report inspired the clickable infographic this week. It is no surprise Singapore is leading the high income nations. As a consolation, Malaysia is second among upper middle income countries. The report highlights adaptive and collaborative skills as a major driver of competitiveness.
This leads to my op-ed in A String of Thought this week: our Sarawakian reputation for niceness is cute, but may not necessarily be enough for us to adapt to the requirements of our ambitious economic development.
