Licensing Reform Pilot Begins
11 - 17 May 2026. Issue 89.
One reason The Sarawakian exists is that Sarawak often has hidden gems that deserve more attention than they receive on national news platforms. There is a quiet transformation taking place here. It may not always be as dramatic as a rocket launch, but it is setting the stage for major changes in Sarawak’s economy and society.
I particularly like this week’s headline about the pilot project to make doing business easier in Sarawak. It could not happen fast enough. That led me to look at the World Bank’s Business Ready report for this week’s infographic. It is plain to see that countries that make it easier to do business generally perform better economically. Lastly, in A String of Thought, I confront our general dislike of confrontation. This is not a small, negligible personality quirk. Sarawak will not progress fast enough if we do not learn how to put the fish on the table, as some might say.
