Sarawak To Power Up ASEAN
23 - 29 Jun 2025. Issue 43.
When The Sarawakian was launched last August, Sarawak was largely overlooked by mainstream media. News on our development was sparse, inconsistent, and easily drowned out by global headlines. That’s why I started this newsletter — to centre our focus on Sarawak’s progress.
The good news? Coverage on Sarawak has grown — not just in volume, but in the depth of topics. In response, I’ve expanded The Sarawakian: still one page, still Sarawakian, but with more to reflect our growing future.
This week’s spotlight is on energy. Power supply is a quality-of-life issue, and after decades of investment, Sarawak is now a regional energy leader. With ASEAN moving towards power integration, the timing couldn’t be better. The infographic this week highlights energy use and cost disparities across the region.
Also new: I’ve added the EU carbon permit price to the Commodities section. It may seem out of place, but I explain the logic in my op-ed under A String of Thought. As always, I welcome your thoughts!
