With few exceptions, the Sarawak government - through its state-owned enterprises (SOEs) - is arguably the single biggest player in the state’s economy. That is why the proposed SOE shake-up is welcome news. Administrations rarely edit themselves unless forced to, which makes this self-imposed clean-up all the more refreshing.
