The Kota Kinabalu High Court has ordered Putrajaya to honour its commitment to grant Sabah 40% of tax revenue collected from the state. This landmark judgment, arriving just ahead of the Sabah state elections in late November, could have far-reaching political consequences. Putrajaya’s response will be closely scrutinised — and may well influence the outcome of the polls. Our fellow Borneans in Sabah deserve to be treated fairly.
While the price of gold has shot through the roof, the number of students taking hardcore science subjects has fallen through the floor. As a man of science myself, this is not how gravity should work. I stir my bubbling reaction in a glass flask in this week’s A String of Thought — but make no mistake, it’s a serious issue that demands urgent attention.
